The Region

Teotitlán del Valle,
Oaxaca.

Cradled by the Sierra Juárez mountains, our village has woven wool for more than five hundred years. The light, the plants, and the water here shape every rug that leaves the studio.

Wilmer with his father and grandfather in their Teotitlán del Valle workshop

A Living Legacy, Woven in Oaxaca

Nisaya exists to connect the living traditions of Oaxaca with homes around the world—thoughtfully, respectfully, and with the artisans at the center.

That commitment led us to the Vásquez family of Teotitlán del Valle. Master weaver Isaac Vásquez García helped revive ancestral natural-dye practices and entrusted that knowledge to the generations that followed. Today, his son and grandson, Wilmer, continue the family's work.

Made by a Family, Not a Factory

Every piece is created with intention in the family workshop. Wool is carefully prepared, colored with natural dyes, and woven on a traditional foot-treadle loom. The process cannot be rushed. Some pieces require weeks or months to complete.

Nothing is mass-produced. Nothing is outsourced.

Each textile carries the knowledge of generations—the vision of the grandfather, the experience of the father, and the perspective of the grandson.

Nisaya's role is to honor that origin, not separate the work from it. We create a bridge between Teotitlán del Valle and those who value objects made with meaning.

When you welcome one of these textiles into your home, you receive more than a beautiful piece. You become part of a living tradition—woven in Oaxaca and carried forward with purpose.
